Nightrider is proud to introduce the BMW-AF-XIED to its product line. After extensive development and testing, we have adapted the most sophisticated version of our patented narrowband O2 sensor inline enrichment technology for use with the BMW Motronics ECM's used in BMW's R1200 motorcycles.
This technology allows the BMW-AF-XIED to provide the most accurate control over narrow band O2 sensors achievable, providing quite accurate Lambda shifts from the emissions mandated 1.000 (14.7:1 AFR) to 0.939 (13.8:1) normally only seen by wide band sensor upgrades. Stable mixtures of Lambda 0.925 (13.6:1) have been seen in some bikes. All of this at a modest-cost and in a simple, plug-n-play package that can be installed with a minimum of effort.
 
The BMW-AF-XIED is available in limited release in 3Q2013. By the end of 2013 full production will be available to meet all customer needs for the supported model bikes with our custom plug-n-play wiring harness.

Use of the BMW AFXIED is no longer recommended for 2014 and later liquid cooled R1200. Field updates to the ECM by BMW Dealers during routine service department visits are creating incompatibility between the ECM and the AFXIED.
The field upgrade was something beyond our control, with no know issues prior to the new ECM load occurring in late 2016. With the field upgrade slowly propagating the change, the situation was not discovered until early 2017. This resulted in our de-certification of the R1200 LC models.

We are in the process of developing an updated AFXIED for these bikes. Release date to be announced at a future time.

There are no known issues with the older air/oil cooled engines.

It Works
As the others have reviewed on here it works as described.i have only done a few hundred miles since fitting due to the poor weather in the uk but already I've noticed how much easier the bike is to ride its like it will pull in a gear higher than normal so where it used to stutter it now just pulls through it. Can't wait for it to fully kick in.

Really impressed
My 2013 GSA had some real vibes, the usual hole at 4500rpm and significant backfiring on the over run. All gone now, more punch, much, much smoother ride, easier slow speed riding. I was a little sceptical but now am a convert....what a brilliant bit of kit.

Worth it!
Smoother, more tractable, no'fluffing' or hesitation, and pulls better in the higher gears. Makes the bike what it should be in the first place!

Works!
Installed on my 2016 GSA LC about 6 weeks ago. Running on setting 7, all intake and exhaust bits are stock, riding in northern CA where you can't get 93 octane gas (not sure if that's relevant)... Anyhow the units noticeably improve low and midrange throttle response by my seat of the pants dyno. I think they offer an improvement over stock setting for low end tractability. Installation was straight forward, just the usual cable wrangling that you have to do with any aftermarket wiring, once cables were routed, installation was a snap. I put the units on top of the ECU under the rider seat, plenty of cable length for this, and they fit even with seat in the low - low position (slight contact of the undersurface of the seat with the cable exiting the rear unit but no real issues with space).
